To get a medical license in Alaska first of all you need to fill out an application with your educational and examination results. If your application is accepted by the state board, you will get a temporary permit. Application for Licensure by Examination

Application for Licensure by Credentials

The other examination that can be equal to the USMLE examination series and be accepted by the Alaska state medical board,  is a written examination that can be passed in another state or territory of the United States or province of Canada. By this examination, an applicant can be provided with credentials to a physician and can have an active license.

Examination Scores

It doesn’t matter if you pass the written examination or the USMLE, in each part of your examinations you have to get a minimum of 75. If you pass the USMLE, and somehow fail one part of it more than once, you need to take a course that will be acceptable to the Board and after that, you will have permission to take the examination one more time. Don’t forget to request an exam score to be sent directly to the Board from the official organization.

How to renew a medical license in Alaska?

The easiest way to renew your medical license in Alaska is to use MY LICENSE. It’s an online renewal application. Usually, it is renewed immediately, but to get your new license by mail can take up to 4-6 weeks.

Follow these steps if you don’t have an account in MY LICENSE:

• Go to MY LICENSE home page
• Here you may use your myAlaska account if you have one, if not you need to create it.
• Click on “an Existing License” and enter the license number and Web Authorization Code.
• The final step, to renew your license, from the Professional Licensing section select the license that you want to renew.
